Must be used under medical supervision. For enteral use only. Not suitable for use as a sole source of nutrition. This product should not be used as a sole source of protein but must be given in conjunction with a protein source to supply the phenylalanine, fluid and general nutrition requirements of the patient in quantities as prescribed by a clinician or dietitian. Not intended for infants or young children.
The recommended dosage and timing of intake is dependent on the age, bodyweight and medical condition of the patient, and should be determined by a dietitian or clinician only. Paste the prescribed amount of powder with a small amount of water. Gradually stir in the remaining water until the required volume is achieved. Initially, a 1 to 7 dilution is recommended (i.e.. 100g Maxamum plus 700mls of water or one 50g sachet plus 350mls of water) with the concentration increasing to 1 to 5 (i.e.. 100g Maxamum plus 500mls water or one 50g sachet plus 250mls of water), with increasing tolerance. These dilutions are guidelines only. PKU Maxamum can be taken as a more concentrated drink or paste, however water or diluted drinks should also be taken to counteract high osmolality. Maxamum (Unflavoured) may be flavoured with a separate flavouring from the Nutricia range. Scoop Weight: 1 level scoop provides 35g of powder.

Continue to information designed for patients and carers.
By clicking the continue button you’ll be able to find out about infant milks and other products. Breastfeeding is best and provides many benefits. It is important that, in preparation for and during breastfeeding, mothers eat a healthy, balanced diet. Combined breast and bottle feeding in the first weeks of life may reduce the supply of breast milk, and reversing the decision not to breastfeed is difficult. The social and financial implications of using an infant milk should be considered. Improper use of an infant milk or inappropriate foods or feeding methods may present a health hazard. If an infant milk is used, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use carefully – failure to follow the instructions may make an infant ill. Follow-on milk should only be used as part of a mixed diet and not as a breastmilk substitute before 6 months.
Foods for special medical purposes should only be used under medical supervision.
