Contra-Indications
Must be used under medical supervision. Not suitable as a sole source of nutrition. Not suitable for children under 3 years of age. Not suitable for tube feeding. Only intended for use by individuals with phenylketonuria.
Precautions
This product must be supplemented with natural protein, fluid and other nutrients in medically prescribed quantities to supply the phenylalanine and general nutrition requirements of the patient. Please monitor micronutrient intake to ensure that individual’s intakes are optimal. The product contains only trace amounts of sodium and chloride.
Preparation and directions for usage
The dosage should be determined by a clinician or dietitian only, and is dependent on the age, body weight and medical condition of the patient. The recommended feed concentration is 28g powder (1 sachet) made up with 65ml water to give a final volume of approximately 80ml. The quantity and dilution of this product can be adapted to the tolerance and preferences of the individual under supervision of clinician or dietitian. To ensure tolerance, the product may initially need to be introduced at a lower concentration. The daily intake should be divided into equal portions and distributed throughout the day. Water or diluted drinks should be offered at the same time. Wash your hands and clean all utensils. Pour 65mls of cold water into a container with a screw top lid. Empty the contents of 1 sachet into the container. Seal and shake well until the powder is dissolved. The powder is best prepared with chilled water and best consumed immediately after preparation. It can also be taken as a more concentrated drink, additional water or diluted drinks must be consumed at the same time. Do not boil and do not use a microwave oven to heat. Do not freeze.
Store in a cool, dry place. Once sachet is opened, use immediately.
