Discover our infant feeding educational series

This educational series highlights the unique benefits of breast milk for infant development and also helps to understand ingredients added to formula milk. The 3 short videos below discuss the intricate composition of breast milk, the role of prebiotics, such as HMOs in breastmilk and GOS & FOS in formula milk, and the role of certain lipids and fats for baby's health that support energy provision and brain development. Each video provides a detailed look at these critical components, ensuring you understand why breast milk is the optimal choice for babies and providing you with further information on formula milk ingredients.

Complexity of Breast Milk

This short video explores the numerous benefits of breast milk for infants and emphasises the unique composition of each mother’s breast milk and its ability to adapt over time. Discover the complex composition of breast milk.

What are the oligosaccharides HMOs and GOS/FOS?

Breast milk is the optimal choice for supporting baby's growth. This is partly due to its complex molecules known as HMOs (human milk oligosaccharides). HMOs are prebiotics which nourish the beneficial bacteria found in the gut. This short video demonstrates that while not all HMOs can be replicated, certain ingredients like GOS & FOS can be added to formula milk in a similar ratio and amount.

What are milk fats and phospholipids?

Breast milk contains many different lipids and fats which support baby’s growth in many ways, such as providing energy and supporting brain functioning. This short video discusses the different types of lipid and milk fat structures found in breast milk and formula milk, and their respective functions.
