About Cow & Gate

Since 1887 Cow & Gate have been manufacturing in Ireland. All Cow & Gate standard powdered milks are manufactured at our state-of-the-art factories in Macroom, Co Cork and Rocklands, Wexford.

Today our factory in Wexford is the first baby formula production site in the world to be certified carbon neutral by the Carbon Trust. This industry-leading milestone is a step towards achieving the company’s goal of zero net carbon emissions by 2050.

Cow & Gate fully supports the WHO recommendation that infants should be exclusively breastfed for the first six months of life. However, when mothers cannot or choose not to breastfeed, Cow & Gate supports infants offering a range of products adapted to an infant’s specific stage.

The Cow & Gate range includes first infant milks, follow on milks and growing up milks. Preterm products are also available, and our specialised milks support bottle-fed infants diagnosed with common infant feeding issues including colic, constipation, reflux and regurgitation.

At Cow & Gate, we are proud to supports infants, parents and healthcare professionals throughout Ireland, with over 125 years of our experience.

Cow & Gate Nutriprem is the only preterm nutrition range in Ireland to fully comply with ESPGHAN recommendations, ensuring that a tailored nutrition approach is provided to help meet the specific needs of both breastfed and formula fed preterm infants.

Breastfeeding is best. Infant formula is suitable from birth when infants are not breastfed. Follow-on milk is only for infants over 6 months, as part of a mixed diet and should not be used as a breastmilk substitute before 6 months. We advise that all formula milks including the decision to start weaning should be made on the advice of a doctor, midwife, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist or other professional responsible for maternal and child care, based on infant’s individual needs. Use toddler milk as part of a varied, balanced diet from 1 year. Foods for special medical purposes should only be used under medical supervision. May be suitable for use as a sole source of nutrition for infants from birth and/or as part of a balanced diet from 6-12 months. Refer to label for details.
